Okay. I can be wrong. And i am wrong a lot. I dunno, the lower one seems more evil and forboding. The upper one seems happy. Happy lava. Shiny for your enjoyment. Seems like you could stick your toe in and swish it around. But i'm not gonna do that.

I'm definitely on Ami's side here - the mump bapped lava looks smooth, like it's cool and polished. Toy town lava! The red 'lava' inbetween the black bits looks like strawberry jam or something. They wanna remove the reflections from the top one, but leave it mump bapped.

Guess the above pic is for psychedelic players, while the other one is for the rest of us who don't care that much as long as it looks good but plays better

I like the second one better. The first looks like the cheese hasn't melted on the pizza yet.

Well, guess that pretty much ends all our speculation on alternative meanings for T&L-- with a bang, huh, Rags...?
Guess I don't have to tell you to have a nice day! But do, anyway...everyone...

P.S. all right, the bump-mapped lava does look like some weird alien jalapeno brickle candy, but that's because of the strange and unnatural regularity of those stepping-stones as well as the ridiculously bright reflections... I still think it'll look better live than the vanilla version...Holly

Kx30: How much does Nvidia pay you?
Seriously, I think that these may be planted trolls. Because their posts are so inane.
Who the hell in their right mind sits around thinking, "Mmmm, I wonder what lava would look like with on-card transform and lighting!" (fyi, Kx30, that lava already has T&L, just not on-card T&L. You are very, very, VERY smart.)
And it's not like we here on the MURC boards sit around trying to bump map everything we can. (Hey Steve, I just rendered a hamster and bump mapped nipples onto it! -- Oh yeah? Look at these bump-mapped oily skin pores!) I know some of us think that bump mapping is well, "nice, but can be a little bit silly" .. Granted, after looking at all of Matrox's demos, i'm beginning to feel like, well, okay, EMBM has it's place: Water and chrome donuts. And it looks GOOD on chrome donuts. I know i'd be a much happier person with lots and lots of chrome donuts.
Thing is, right now the G400 would still be a good card even without EMBM. We'll find out if the GeForce really is any better when it's available. And then we'll just wait for Matrox to follow up to it, so that we don't have to get rid of our dual heads and rainbow runners.
So, basically, i'd say, T&L trollers, our response to you is likely that of an impotent flasher revealing himself: we are all laughing at your teenie weenies.

Ami - you have bump mapped hamster's nipples?!?! Cool! I've got to see that. I bet it'd look cack using T&L, god, I need more to bump map. Need ideas! Hey, I could bump map my mouse pointer!
Oh, no, g400 is crap. T&L for ever. End of story. Ami - kx30 is right, we should all bin our g400 that some of us have paid good money for. Oh look, intel are bringing out a 600mhz chip, I better bin my 550mhz. Oh look, someone's brought out a 55gb drive, I better ditch my 54gb.
kx30 - some of us have these g400 things. Some of us want to know what it can do. Some of us couldn't care less about what a card we don't own can do. Geddit? And some of us can't afford to buy the latest and greatest graphics card on the market the day it comes out. Most of us aren't trolls. (God I hate that word!)
