  • zoran softDVD problems

well The Matrix came via UPS today..and I'm a no go for watching it. I'm using the zoran softdvd software to run the DVDs that I have (all two of them!) and I haven't run it in awhile..I pop in the DVD and goto play it and it comes back and tells me that it can't find a DVD drive. I goto explorer and I can see the DVD in the drive with no problems...I pop it in and it autoplays and wants to install the software that comes with it. I tried using that but it crashs the computer hard and I have to reboot using the reset key. I'm using a Aopen DVD-9632 DVD drive.

The short list of stuff I did:

Uninstall and restall the softdvd software and the Pc friendy DVD software..tried the softdvd software first and after the PC friendy program.

uninstall and Reinstall Powerdesk 5.15 and clean up the regsitery using norton windoctor.

delete and reinstall the DVD drive in control panel.

I noticed that the softdvd and the pcfriendly software seemed to conflict with each other in the registery..windoctor showed this and deleted the bad keys. it still does the same thing with just the softdvd software on the system, can't find the drive or DVD.

    Thanks

    Scott

Take Zoran Soft DVD and burn it.

It does not work properly with any of the PD 5.x drivers...

      LOL

ok I had that feeling...I wanted to watch it..guess thats another thing to add to the list of things that need my G400MAX to come in-like my PCI modem upgrade (for WIN2000), my UltraDMA66 controller and now watching the Matrix on DVD .

I would suggest obtaining a copy of either Software Cinemaster or WinDVD at one of these sites:
        http://www.dvdutils.com/
        http://www.dvdsoft.de/

to tide you over until your G400 arrives.
