  • ANT. BETA TESTERS. WILL 5.30 DO RR-G?!

I am going to be eye-popping miffed if this sooper-dooper 5.30 driver doesn't support the RR-G or Matrox Video Tools.

Haig, Steve, Ant, Someone! Tell me it iddn't so!

And Matrox: Why exactly is it that only every 3rd release or so supports the RR-G!? Every driver release should support it!

If anyone wants to kindly donate their RR-G to me, I'll test it for them.....

      Hi Ami,

It iddn't so We will release a new driver set for the Marvel G200/RRG cards which will include VT 1.5x and PD 5.3x.

      Don't know when.

"Why exactly is it that only every 3rd release or so supports the RR-G!? Every driver release should support it!"

Because Capture drivers are far more complicated to write and alot longer to test. There are too many variables to look at since Video capturing/editing involves testing with various HD's, PCI sound cards, various VCR's, various camcorders, looking for field inversions, playback jitters, frame drops, etc along with all else that has to be tested with the PD drivers.

        oh no. eesh...

Well, Haig, what about the ICD then? Umm - i know you guys don't _approve_ but I'm running 5.15 but basically just swapped out the Beta ICD / 5.25 ICD file there (g400icd)... Could I do that with the TurboGL drivers/5.30? Or is the ICD absolutely positively tied in with the entirety of the PowerDesk release?

gah! I'm in the past, haig! 5.15!!!

(ami wants her cake and to eat it too!)

        This is a spunky tagline.

          Hi Haig,

Couldn't you/they leave the same video capture core, and just upgrade the 2D/3D drivers around them?

Does the G400 / RRG combination work under NT4 yet?

It's overdue.. Haig (and all the software guys at M), thanks for all you are doing of late, particularly taking your own personal time out to be here and help answer our questions. I know we all tend to hold you to impossible standards at times, but the efforts you have been making recently are truly appreciated, and give us confidence that whatever might be lacking will soon be addressed.

              ------------------
              Kind Regards,

Ami - If the ICD is supported under a certain PD version and that same PD is part of the Capture driver set, then it will work.

Mark - We sometimes do it that way but the testing period for the VT with any new PD is still very long. The Video SQA guys have way to many variables to look at, because with Video, anything in your system can cause frame drops or jerky playback of your captured files and DVD movies.

Also, testing each build with all versions of Win 9x doesn't help the speedy release either.

                Chris - Not yet.
