  • Kruzin, Ant how r visuals with TurboGL ?

This TurboGL is going to be a real blast according to the scores. I wanted to know if this boost in performance will bring us minor visuals problems like with the BetaGL or will it be equal to the visuals we get from the ICD ?

There's nought wrong with the visuals in Q2 or Q3 when I tried. Thing is, the PIII I had was borrowed, and has now gone back.

PS: Some or all of the above message may be wrong, or, just as likely, correct. Depends on what mood I'm in. And what you know. ;¬)

I was going to mention that, I have a few odd ones right now. Nothing even close to a PINTA though.

But HL?! 35fps...what rez? um I likely get more than that now on my celeron. If it boosts Q2 it **really** should be boosting HL, and other ones, say, Kingpin.

HL has the most glitches, like blood showing through walls

Ant, what about LIGHTING in Q3. They were almost non-existent in all the 5.x drivers.

Does it still do that awful texture smoothing? Before the G400 was released, the screenshots posted at some reviews seemed as if the card supported per pixel trilinear filtering, just like the Savage4 does. However in retail versions the corridor in the lava room (q3test, map1) suffers from that texture smoothing (which, at least on my PC, is more intense withthe beta ICD, nearly the same with the G200).

This may be a tad off topic, but I heard it only works with the Pentium 3 and Athlons.. Is this true? I have a K6-2 and without changing my motherboard, would be willing to go to a K6-3 500 just to be able to take advantage of the new Turbo GL.. Will TurboGL work for K3s? It has 3d Now too...

I've found the TurboGL to provide the best visuals so far in Quake 2 and 3, gone are several glitches I had with the beta ICD.

At the moment of time, hard-core gamers should really consider SIMD. You could wait til the celeron get it, but right now, buy a P3 450 and overclock it to 600. Or 550.

On the other hand, is the new TurboGL just taking advantadge of the SIMD, or is it also more optimized? If it is more optimized, then regular P2/celeron owners shouldn't have anything to complain about

A good way to keep a mob of peasants from killing your monster is when they break into your castle, make them be real quiet, then open a door and there's the monster, sound asleep.
