James, there is no need for a ramdac on a digital panel, since the signal remains digital all the way along. As far as I know, to animate something on a digital panel, the pixels are controlled individually. No scanning required.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard coated bastards with bastard filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive, bubble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine. -- Dr. Perry Cox

Hi James,
My personal take on the Flat Panels would be more positive if everyone can agree to a standard. Look at www.ddwg.org for more info.
Another thing that bothers me about flat panels is that if you don't have your desktop res set to their maximum supported res, you will get black borders all around.
Seems that not too many flat panels can do scaling yet.
I'm sure that this would get fixed once there is a definite spec but until then, I'll stick with the old CRT.

agallag,
RAMDAC - {*slaps my forehead*} Duh.
Nevertheless, I am still interested in what the typical bandwidth is like between a digital flat panel and the vid. controller.
I mean, like, does it break the laws of physics/information and have instantaneous refresh?!
Haig,
Thanks for the pointer and response.
Since I am not a member, I did not try any links except the FAQ. :P Not much info that I want though (i.e. the bandwidth question w.r.t. digital flat panels vis a vis analogue flat panels.
Thanks.
