  • g400max lockup in d3d-soyo board-

after switching motherboards (bh6 to soyoba6+III)
i cant run any d3d games although the d3d test runs ok
with the bh6 it worked flawlessly with any setting
the max is on irq 11 and only shares it with the IRQ holder for PCI steering
    nothing overclocked
    any help appreciated

Which BIOS do you have? I've got the latest, which reports my CPU as a 522 instead of a 540 (4.5x120Mhz), but other than that, it seems to be a good BIOS. Added support for L2 Cache latency adjustment, too.

I've not had any lockups with the G400 where it was the G400's fault. Most of my lockups are due to beta software, or trying to run XingDVD - doesn't like the G400, it seems.

G400 has it's own IRQ - 11 I believe. Live is on 10, SB emulation is on 5, sharing with the LPT port is enabled. network card is on IRQ 10 or 9, one of those two.

Games run fine, Unreal is gorgeous. Only thing I need to do is disable DirectCD for games to stop skipping (access the drives for some reason...).

Try the infamous turning off of bus-mastering for the G400 and see if that lets you do stuff. A lot of hangs seem to go away when busmastering is disabled. Not that that is an answer we want to live with for very long...
