Matrox have been advertising it in the UK for over 2 weeks.

Doh! They went with MJPEG. I was hoping they would surprise us with a switch to the DVxplore chip for MPEG2 like the ATI Video Wonder due out in December. They must have such a board in the works.

The biggest surprise is that they stayed with Avid Cinema. At least the RR is available to get around that.

The announcement is ambiguous, at least to me, about whether the Dual Head output is the same as the video out for the BOB. Must be.

The DH on the Marvel G400 is only for 1 RGB monitor and 1 TV or Flat Panel.

The rest of the DH features like DVD max and clone are there with the Marvel G400.

How can you have Multi Monitor and TV out at the same time???
            You simply can't.
Even with the Matrox G400's it's either one monitor and TV out/flat screen or multi monitor.

            Cheers,
            Elie

Elie, I know you can't have TV out AND multi-monitor. I would have preferred MM thats all.

I would just get an RR-G, but it won't work with the G400 under NT.

                    Hi Phlex,

The RT-2000 will have Firewire. If you are referring to a firewire card for the mass market price point, we have nothing planned for it at this time.

Thanks Haig for the info. No doubt the RT2000 sounds impressive. Especially for $2500 with the bundled software. I just don't know if I can justify the price tag to edit my home movies from my Sony digital camcorder. I guess I'll just have to wait a little longer and hope the price drops.

Even at the list price, the RT2000 is an extraordinary buy. I don't know if I will be able to hold out for the price drop. Matrox, you are right on with this one.

*yawn* not my kind of card. (marvel g400)

Say, whats this about no multimonitor with TV-out? Has anyone actually TRIED? Windows doesn't look for a monitor on the second head...just output 640x480 or 800x600 @60hz for your second desktop.

Methinks the hardware could do it for sure...and windows has no clue, nor does it need one...so the only thing holding back would be the DRIVERS *cough*

You can send anything to the Marvel TV-out that you could send to an ordinary G400 DH. It is just that you can't connect an RGB monitor.
