G200, C300A@450,agp/pci 1/1,bh6 AGP 2X ???

Hi!

Anyone having c300a running at 450,
with abit bh6 agp/pci div set to 1/1
and gettting agp 2x with G200 ??

if yes - how ??

I have tried the registry hack but
the system locks up . . .

(or have i set the agp/pci divider
incorrectly... ?? hope not...)

you have to run the pci/agp divider at 2/3 at 1/1 you are running the agp and pci bus at 100 mhz and i don't think any card/ agp pci aor even ide device can run at that speed with out locking up or (burning up)

i have a bh6 at agp 2x and an over clocked cpu have used both 300a at 450 and p2350 at 464 (10/103 fsb)

maybe i was i little bit
misleading when talking about
"agp / pci" divider . . . but i think
we were talking about the same setting
anyway... the "agpclk/cpuclk" divider...
and yes . . . g200 runs very well at 1/1
@100Mhz fsb (at least i'm doing it...)
if i set it to 2/3 and put the fsb at 100Mhz
the system is very unstable - messed characters at windows menus . . . if try
to start a 3d game -> instant lockup or
scrambled screen. Yes i know it is very
odd behaviour , but what can you do...

now running "happily" ...

abit bh6 , FU bios, c300a@450Mhz

so if anyone runs bh6 & g200 agp at agp2x
i would like to know the settings...
(and bios, driver versions...)

(abit news group does not help much ...

I was quite able to run a G200 at AGP2X with agp divider at 2/3 and 103MHz FSB. Abit BH6 latest bios, cela300@464, G200 8MB OEMlatest bios. Same settings work fine with my G400 nowadays.

Hi Smo !

As you stated you're running at 100MHz FSB using a 1/1 divider.

With that setting you'll never get AGP2x working, because that would be an AGP clock of 200MHz where 166.6MHz is spec.

You said you tried a 2/3 divider, but experienced graphical corruption.
This looks like your G200 worked in AGP2x mode, but your mobo seems to be producing too much noise to get a proper output.

There are several things you could try:

- Update your MoBo bios.
- If there are any, update your MoBo's AGP drivers
- Check your MoBo bios for a Turbo-Option and disable if neccessary.
- Update your G200 bios.
- Use the latest G200 drivers.

If all those option do not help to get a clean picture / stable system at 100MHz FSB, 2/3 divider and AGP2x, you should stick with AGP1x on a 1/1 divider giving you something like AGP1.5x.

My BH6 v1.02 runs my Matrox G-200 with a AGPCLK/CPUCLK at 2/3 with AGP2x.

It cannot run at AGPCLK/CPUCLK at 1/1 with AGP 2x, as that means the AGP slot is running at 200MHz (sort of), which is way above spec.

It will run at AGPCLK/CPUCLK at 1/1 with AGP 1x though.

This is with a Celeron 366MHz overclocked to 550MHz (FSB=100MHz).

I strongly suspect that you are not running at AGPCLK/CPUCLK at 1/1 with a FSB of 100MHz, but if you are, then I don't think your Video Card is going to be sticking around for very long!

Maggi are you sure about that 166MHz, or is it a typo?

As I understand it, these are the following combinations on a BX Chipsetted board.

Default AGP on a motherboard running a FSB of 100MHz for AGPCLK/CPUCLK at 2/3 is 66MHz otherwise known as AGPx1.

On a motherboard running a FSB of 100MHz for AGPCLK/CPUCLK at 1/1 is 100MHz otherwise known as AGPx1.5

On a motherboard running a FSB of 100MHz for AGPCLK/CPUCLK at 2/3 is 133MHz otherwise known as AGPx2

On a motherboard running a FSB of 100MHz for AGPCLK/CPUCLK at 1/1 is 200MHz otherwise known as BSOD if you are lucky, or new video Card if you are unlucky

Did I get it wrong, I think I am just paraphrasing something that you have said earlier, here in this forum. Maybe it was you, maybe it wasn't, I would have to check, but to the best of my memory, it was you.

and I get AGP x2 both cases /pcilist/
How is possible?

I checked the divider thingie today
and did a "brave" 'do or die' bios
flash from FU to LN. (like Maggie
suggested..)

Before the flash I tried 2/3 divider
with agp1x 100 Mhz fsb (just wanted
to be sure that i had not messed up
earlier). It turned out that the system
could not handle it at all. Well I did
know this from my earlier experiments.

God Damn . . .
For some reason the FU bios does not like
2/3 divider . . . that's my conclusion.

Now running agp2x, 100Mhz fsb, 2/3 div.

I think its time you visited a resource site and read a good explanation of AGP. The 1X/2X does not refer to the AGP bus speed but rather the data transfer rate. 1X refers data xmission triggered on the leading or trailing edge of the clock pulse, 2X refers to data xfer triggered on both edges of the clock pulse. Therefore, if the AGP bus is clocked at 66MHz, you end up with either 66 or 133MHz xfer rate. This is also referred to as sideband xfer by some references. A more accurate and extensive explanation should available at many of the review sites on the net.

DuRaNgO, I have tried to play Quake 2 and that was succesfull.
My Matrox work very well too.

How I can overclock my Celeron 400MHz (bus 66 x6)to 600Mhz (bus 100 x6). My best try is 500 (bus 83 x6)??? I probed to increase voltage 2.00 up to 2.30, but computer halted while Windows was loading.

sounds like either heat:
A: add some case fans to exchange the air inside the case more efficiently...
B: get a BIGGER heatsink and fan combo on your celery (possibly a Tennmax)
or memory:
A: slow down the speed of your ram...
B: make sure you have PC-100 compliant sdram
