  • G400 (Max) Dual Head under NT

    hi,

Got a dual board here, and bacause of that, I'm now wondering: will I be able to use a G400 MAX under Windows NT being fullty functional, or can I expect a lot of trouble here?

I'm asking because I notice only Single CPU Win98 users here on the forum.

There was a time, not very long ago, when you could tell the NT users by the sobbing, followed by the wailing, and the leaping off bridges. Things have been a bit quiter lately. I hope this is because the new drivers have improved things.

I *really* like the G400, but I'm a Windows 98 user. In the past, the relationship between NT users and Matrox has been a bit strained. In my experience, NT users aren't as quick to complain as gamers using Windows 98. But there has been a steady drone of complaining by NT users since the G200 came out last year.

I'm really curious about the performance of the new drivers.

I can confirm the the G400 MAX dualhead feature works under NT4. It's not nearly as nice as the Win98/2000 built in multimonitor feature, but it'll do until Win2k is officially released. Also with the new drivers OpenGL works decently, not nearly as well as my TNT, but I'm currently getting 29.8 fps in Quake2 at 800x600. It's playable at the very least.

Tsjeezz... I hope that definitely will get better in time. But then again, G400 was developed I believe for DirectX, so Half-Life should run nicely...

I've got my system running on 3 OS.
            Why?
            well:
            win98:
for OpenGL, Multiple-monitorsupport (err.. it WORKS onder NT, but it's not quite as useful under win98), DVD&Multimedia-stuff.. err.. and yes.. games..

            Windows NT4:
            I've got an Abit BP6 motherboard, with 2x400mhz celerons @ 550.
I can use that multiple-processing power for my 3D-rendering (TrueSpace) and Photoshop.

            Win2k:
Well.. I HOPED Matrox would have some desent drivers for that, since this would REALLY solve all my problems.
so.. it's waiting here on my HD..
just waiting 'till the new drivers are out.
IMagination has the POWER to CHANGE life...

I got pretty close, figured out now how to use the duplication, but true multi monitor si still a problem. (grat btw: got it delivered in 2 day's after ordering)

                  Maggi,
I've seen corrupted desktops before, but that's just ridiculous. It mixed up all the letters, turning it into an unreadable mess!

<an, I hope some new drivers fix that for you

Okay, Puffer=buffer. And it even makes sense to you... Okay, I'm beginning to understand the problem...

Now wouldn't 'Pus-Meisterung' make more sense than 'Bus-Mastering'?

                            Hi Firefox,

it works like a charm over here on NT4 SP 5.

Look at the pix below and compare to your PowerDesk settings ...

Btw, Unreal Tournament is quite impressive in OGL under NT4
