  • Specific TV-out resolutions on G400 DH

Can the G400 DualHead output the resolutions 768x576 (PAL) or 720x576 (NTSC) on the secondary monitor out/TV out port?
The resolutions have to be unscaled and be working under either NT4 or Windows 2000.

    Thanks in advance.

You are not quite right with your statement.

768x576 is full screen PAL on a computer using square pixels.
720x576 is full screen PAL on a TV using non-square pixels.

NTSC equals to 768x486 in square pixels and 720x486 in non-square pixels.

The resolution you want to use is supported by the Marvel series and the RainbowRunner video capture addon when using the M-JPEG codec.

Using this resolution has no real advantage over the 640x480, because the outer areas in 768x576 are not visible on a TV. The so called 'title safe' covers about 640x480 pixels and is guaranteed to b shown on regular TVs. Around that is the so called 'action safe' that should be used for animations and general video.
The area around the action safe is not visible on any TV, unless you have a button to use the so called underscan mode.

    ...

What's your purpose for using those resolutions ?

    There's probably a workaround.

The purpose is to get the desktop image out on our TV's at work.
We currently have it outputting a PAL signal, from Windows 98, using some card, which I can't remember the brand of. But the card does not have NT or Windows 2000 drivers, and we want to switch away from Windows 98, since it's a pile of ....

So we basicly just need to have the card outputting a picture in the resoultion, as a TV signal. (The resolutions were given to me, by one of our graphics guys, and it was him that made that part of the TV system. So I trust he knows what he's doing, and have reason for wanting those specific resolutions
