Well after many months I am finally back. In July my family and I relocated to Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. My company offered me a two year assignment in Malaysia. They have asked me to setup the Asia Pacific technical support organization including First and Second line support along with he development of a New Product Introduction team. Pretty exciting opportunity full of many challenges.
Before I left for Malaysia, I headed down to the local Ottawa, Canada computer store to see if I could get my hands on a Max. Not a chance as many of you have already experience. No problem, it gave me the opportunity to read all the reviews and see exactly where this card stood in terms of price performance and features before purchasing.
In preparation for my next Video card, I went out and bought a PIII-450 and a new Abit BE6 board. Luckily I had read enough about the PIII to know what production week would give me the best overclocking potential. Bingo!!! So far I am able to crank my PIII to 600Mhz without additional cooling. I have also ordered a Tennamax P3 cooler and an Alpha cooler to see if I can hit the next level (630).
After all the research it is very clear that the G400 Max is the card for me. The problem is that in Malaysia, Matrox products are non existent!! And to further complicate things, the Matrox online store currently only ships software to Malaysia Ah, but there is always a solution to everything. I ordered the Max from the online store yesterday and had it shipped to my Father in-law's address in Canada. 12 hours after placing the order I received notice that my card is enroute and should arrive tomorrow. I have already given specific instruction to in-law dad to send it to me in KL by courier.
Can't wait the see this puppy run.
Great to be back and see all the regulars still around. Ant, the new server is great. Looking forward to contributing in a positive manner.
