  • How to benchmark in Half Life and Quake 3???

After seeing some great improvments in Quake II benchmarking, I would like to test them in Half Life and Quake 3

Can someone tell me how I can benchmark in Half Life and quake 3.

    Regards,

Half-Life isn't a very good benchmark as the fps counter stays running and if you stop and look at the sky as opposed to looking at a dark corner you will get HUGE differences. There is no time demo.

well how about just telling the console command instead of telling us what it does and how good or bad it works as benchmark...

      thx

In HL , mp, bring down the console by pressing the tilde
        <~>
        then type
        timerefresh
        hit ENTER

          timerefresh sux bad.

To get the FPS counter in HL, go to the console, and type:
          developer 1
          host_speeds 1

to turn it off, use zeros

            ok, easy
            go to
            half-life.pcgame.com
            download blowup timedemo,
than go to HL console, and type
            timedemo blowup

but i don't think it is accurate, i checked it before TGL, on all res and also d3d/Ogl
and i got around 25 fps

            Post results

I just ran the halflife blowup demo and got 29FPS at 1024x768 on a PIII450@504, G400MAX@162, 128MB CAS2 Memory, and SBLIVE. What are good numbers?
