  • Powerdesk NT 4.22 and Hollywood RealMagic Plus

    I'm running NT4 SP5 and whenever I have the Powerdesk software installed and try to play a DVD using my RealMagic decoder card and software, I get an MCI error. If I uninstall the powerdesk software, DVDs play fine with the RealMagic card. I supposed this is somehow caused by the Matrox DVD software, but I can't seem to uninstall just that software and leave Powerdesk as it is (for DH). Any suggestions?

    Hey there Gleason,

    I see you're using NT4 with G400. Help me out here;

    Are you able to use two monitors in NT4.0?? If yes, provide some info, pls!!!

    Thanks

      I'm running NT4.0 with my G400Max, and I'm using two monitors, here is how:
      Enable Dual-Head in the appropriate menu, then choose with PowerDesk a resolution that will spawn across two monitors (there is even in icon with two monitors), like 2048*768. Once applied, the second monitor will display the second half of your desktop.
      That's it.

        How can the Matrox DVD software prevents you from playing DVD's in NT? It does not even work at all in NT! Also be sure that dual head is disabled when trying to play your DVD's since the program will not recognize your virtual desktop!

          That's just the thing...the Matrox DVD software doesn't appear to be installed. However, in the Multimedia control panel a file called impeg32.dll is installed by the Powerdesk software. When I do a full removal of the software the DVD player for my RealMagic card works fine. I haven't been using dual head either...It's wierd...
