  • ANT, Kruzin, someone... stop this atrocity!!! Quick!

    Hey,

Go to http://www.agnhardware.com Some guy with a P3 600 and G400 MAX says that he benchmarked Q3 crusher demo with turboGL and got really crappy scores.

    Here's a copy/paste:Test Machine:
    P3 600MHz
    256 MB 100MHz SDRAM
    Matrox Millennium G400 MAX

    Q3test - Crusher demo

    16-bit:
    640 x 480 - 21.2 fps
    800 x 600 - 21.2 fps
    1024 x 768 - 21.0 fps
    1280 x 960 - 19.0 fps
    1600 x 1200 - 15.3 fps

    32-bit:
    640 x 480 - 21.1 fps
    800 x 600 - 19.8 fps
    1024 x 768 - 18.5 fps
    1280 x 960 - 12.8 fps
    1600 x 1200 - 8.7 fps

Tell me the decimal is in the wrong place or something.... Anyone?

This has got to be a joke.

It must be a joke because there is no such thing as a Q3test Crusher demo.

AH- HA! I knew there was something fishy going on here. Someone care to email the guys at AGN and let them know to take that crap down?

Sorry... I just can't stand to see my fav vid card misrepresented like this. (I almost feel like a mac fanatic... scary, isn't it?)

        A) Q3test (not being an actual game yet) is not even on my system. I got burned out on the same 3 maps after 2 nights. After it's a real game, I'll think about looking at it again.

        B) Q3 "Crusher"? That's a new one. I've seen the Q2 "Crusher" test, but that's the first I ever heard of one for Q3. Who knows what that demo might test like...

        C) This is 3rd hand info. The guy who posted it didn't even run the tests....he got these results from someone in the e-mail. I would not put any value to them without knowing what settings he used, how his system is set up (a 3-line description doesn't cut it), and what other people average on the same test with the same graphics settings...

        D) I only run a P2, so I could not test and challange those results if I wanted to, not being able to run the TurboGL...

Obviously it was irresposible for that guy to post those scores without being able to verify anything himself. For all he knows, the guy who turned in those scores doesn't have a clue what he's doing.

But I'm not about to run all over the net rebuting every negative blurb I see

You really ought to do something about that lack of a PIII. :-)
The pessimist says: "The glass is half empty."
The optimist says: "The glass is half full."
The engineer says: "I put half of my water in a redundant glass."

Nah, gotta go for that Tomato overclockers' chip. It isn't a production/sale item, but they got a Athlon 650 up to 900Mhz.
