    Does a fan help for O/Cing the G400?

    After tinkering with the O/C slider in the tweak utility, I've noticed that I can O/C up to 115% with no problems at all (and a very small performance boost). When I hit 120%, the graphics get shitty (in Unreal timdemos anyways). Would an old P1 fan alleviate this problem and allow me to hit 120% with no artifacting?

    Hey,

    Try changing reslolutions. I was like you... at 1024x768 my g400 would only do 113% before big problems. I switched to 1152x874 and now do 120% without any extra cooling. I did put a pentium fan on just to be safe and can do 130%... but I just don't feel safe.

        just stay cool!!!
        first, look under the heatsink
        see all that white gunk? that's bad!
        using a hairdryer, (carefully) heat up the heatsink then twist it off!
        clean all the gunk off with a light cleaning agent
        then reinstall the heatsink or a much better one and a REAL fan using Fragtape (tm) or a very small amount of thermal paste and a cleverly designed mounting system utilizing the two holes supplied on the board

          I'm kinda stuck at 1024x768. I can do that res at 85hz; any higher and my refresh rate drops to 60hz (yuck). Monitor is only a 17". And I will NOT drop to 800x600 for a fps increase; it's the principle of the thing. I'll just stick at 1024 until I can get a Pentium fan and mess around some more.

          I do have MGAtweak, along with about 4 other tweak progs. I didn't think you could O/C with it. I thought it just showed the clock speed.

              also, get that p2 350 up to 412 or 450, that's what I used to run my p2 350 at (450) before I got the p3

                If I could OC my 350, I would. It ain't happening. Black screen death happens every time I try. Damn thing doesn't even like a slight increase (103FSB). If ya got any tips to try, I'll gladly try em. My warranty expired anyway.
