  • Matrox DVD fix/update (dual-layer support)

[Intro: the Matrox DVD player is a minor tweak of the QI/ATI player - all use the Cinemaster engine for software based decoding. Therefore, you can update the Matrox player by updating the Cinemaster DLL's on your PC.]

Check out the latest Cinemaster drivers: http://www.dvdsoft.de/filez/CineMast....0.35.6012.zip

Install all files to Windows/System (overwrite all), and now you can play dual-layer disc with the Matrox DVD player (including The Matrix!).

Does the "Specail Features" menu work for you in The Matrix? My movie plays fine, but the player seems to have trouble accessing that particular menu. I end up having to revert to WinDVD to play it.

I have tried to download it from that location, but it always stops at around 450K and never rusumes (I think it is about 750K).

FrankS, if this let's you watch the 'special features' of "The Matrix" (the only dvd I had problems with), then I was hoping you could send me the file directly.

I downloaded it and renamed it for ease of use. An extra link for you guys.

It's the same file exactly, just renamed for ease of use.

Seems to improve my dvd playback as well, so I'm a happy camper

Just letting you guys know that someone sent me the file I requested, so there is no need to send it my way. I know you all are eager to help everyone (that is why I like these fora), this is the only reason I am posting this.

BTW, anyone have problems with 'the matrix', this fixes it. Gool luck.

                  Hey,

I just did they update and everything is great. (So far it has crashed only once... maybe it was a one time deal.) It was cool to finally see the "making of" video.

                  Thanks everyone

Even after installing the new version of Cinemaster, I am still getting flickering of the movie images. All DVDs do this to me unless I have a TV hooked up to the DVDmax. Anyone able to play to their monitor without flicker? Drives me crazy. I bought a DXr3 card to avoid playing the Cinemaster for this reason.

i get some weird error after installing the files into windows system... "this version of software cinemaster does not support playback of dvd content on a system that has a kernel debugger enabled. therefore you may encounter problems in attempting to do so." the title of the popup box is CSS- Protection Warning. cant play dvds anymore.

Brian, I think that you are getting the flickering because some of the settings you have aren't right. The default cinemaster settings really suck. Go to www.dvdutils.com, and download the lates DVD region selector. It has options for Cinemaster that is otherwise invisible. I also have DXr3 (Hollywood+), and I actually like the software Cinemaster image quality better on my G400!

                          Perception, did you reboot directly
before AND after installing the new
files into the windows system dir?

Otherwise you might end up with a mix
of files from different versions of
cinemaster and you will get exactly
                          that error message.

                          Hope that helps.
                          Still using a G200 PCI...

OK I installed the files, but now the DVD player is region 1 only, while I live in a region 2 country.
When I try to change the region, it will ignore the region I selected, and comes with a message that the wrong region is selected, and asks if I want to change the region now, but doing so does not make a difference, it just comes with the same message over and over again.
So I had to go back to the original matrox DVD player.

Is there anybody with the same problem, or does anybody know how to solve it?

Oh No! Follow the white rabbit!

Just rented that movie over the weekend, much say it was good, better than most movies I have seen lately, the woman even liked it, and that's amazing, we never like the same movies. That star wars prequeal crap or the camcorder in the woods movie are not even in the same class. Was thinking of pickup up the DVD version but perhaps I'll get the Mummy instead. Just getting into DVD, anyone care to recommend some good DVDs in the guy flick genre.

                              FrankS,

Thanks for the Matrox DVD == Cinemaster tip, apparently Cinemaster is the one to use.
