Does anyone know if Matrox will release any drivers that doesn't require Athlon or PIII processors??

Hmmm... Is there any chance that there will ever be any good OpenGL drivers that work on a Celery.. I dont want to spend lots of money on an Athlon just because some company is too lazy to optimize their drivers...

Purjo, I think that the current drivers offer pretty decent performance and stability on a Celeron, granted their is better performance with the TurboGL, but I believe that with a separate team doing the TurboGL, and another doing the ICD, we should be seeing good improvements with every release.

        Ok.. Thanks for your comments.

I hope that you are right since you now have pushed me in the direction that leads closer towards a G400 in my next box.

The 530 drivers don't require an athlon or PIII processors to run. I have a celery 400 and the 530 turbogl drivers work fine although they are not using the SIMD optomised turbo part of the drivers until i get my new athlon when the Asus board finally comes out.. And then the g400 will really fly...

The turbo GL driver only shows notable improvement below 1024X768. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you're still running a small monitor. A K7 would definitely improve your scores across the board. In fact if there are no more slot1/ BX compatible processors, I will definitely lean towards getting an AMD, especially once the high quality O/C capable Mobo's come out...
