Ok! this should be simple :-) I'm running the G400 in a Celeron 550 rig now, but I'd like to swap it out to the primary system. It has a P-III 450 running @ 124 Mhz. This gives me an AGP speed of almost 83 Mhz. Anyone know wether the G400/32MB will function properly at this speed? Thanks!

It should function, but you may not be able to get it running stable at 2x (not that it really maked a diff)Core2 Duo E7500 2.93, Asus P5Q Pro Turbo, 4gig 1066 DDR2, 1gig Asus ENGTS250, SB X-Fi Gamer ,WD Caviar Black 1tb, Plextor PX-880SA, Dual Samsung 2494s

Well forgive my ignorance!, but: When and Where will 2X AGP transfers become an issue? (Hey don't laugh either I've been using 3Dfx cards so long its' hard to relate. They're just PCI chipset moved onto an AGP board) I want to make the swap because the primary system has the DVD drive and I watch movies on my PC occasionally. In fact I was considering getting a DVD drive for the Celeron rig, but I need a 19" monitor more so there won't be enough money for that now. Since the primary system has a V3-3000, and twice as much HDD space, it is given most of the gaming chores. The Celery is my "test bed". The place where I load NT and try to "break it" (really! that's how I learn an OS). Anyway, enough of the ramble, What besides games will use AGP 2X?<a href="http://www.gaijindesign.com/lawriemalen/jedi" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.gaijindesign.com/lawriemalen/jedi/yoda.jpg" width="285" height="123" border="0"><br>:: how jedi are you? ::</a>

A p3-450 running at a 124mhz FSB speed gives you 558mhz, and thus an AGP clock of 83. This is high, but _most_ cards can handle it just fine. My G400 vanilla is more than happy at this setting, and its overclocked as well. However, going to a 133mhz FSB for 600mhz will kill virtually all AGP cards, as not too many things can handle an 89mhz AGP clock.

Just a point of interest, the G200 Mystique handles the 89MHz AGP no problem. It seems to be a little more tolerant than the G400 for overclocking the AGP bus as it will handle 100MHz FSB at 1/1 ratio. (I shouldn't generalize too much, my Mystique will handle it, no guarantee on yours).
