  • ABIT LOCKUPS- 100% SUre its Mobo alignment/seating problem

I have an abit bx6 rev 2.0 mobo and a g400 max. When i first got hte max and installed it, I had 0 lock up problems, everything was fine.

HOwever, a few days ago i switched out my mobo, to try the Apollo VIa chipset, which btw turned out to suck ass, lost 10fps in UT and Q3, with horrible texture thrashing.

Anyhow, soon as a reinstalled my abit bx6 rev.2, lockup problems begain. I noticed that the card no longer gently glided into the slot, and even after removing the bottom brackeet tab, it would not fit in nicely. I have treid 2 times to reallign the mobo, but i still havent founf the exact angle.

But since everything was perfect for 2 months on my old setup, running at 129fsb, i am 100% convinced that its a mobo allignment and agp seating problem.

That's for sure Shaidar, we've seen our share on the Forum lately.
Before I tighten the screws for the motherboard I slide a flat bladed screwdriver in the gap by the card slots and push the motherboard as far forward as possible. I tighten the motherboard down while keeping pressure with the flat bladed screwdriver.

There may also be a problem with certain standoffs causing sorting to occur on the ABIT boards. I have a friend who always puts electric tape on the tops of the standoffs whenever he builds a system with an ABIT board. He says since he started doing this there are never any lockup or spontaneous re-boot problems with the ABIT systems he builds.
