We're here, and I for one have not seen anythink like a 30% decrease in OGL. I'm going to do some of my own comparisons shortly to see who what why when and by how much...

If this is a goofup, then it is a really interresting goofup. A really impressive goofup too... If they dare this with the "Millennium G400 wins over 85 Awards" gloating all over their main page, then suck off... If those drivers are really the best they could do performance/stability vice then they have not followed the thousand advices in hiring new much needed OpenGL/driver programmers. They simply can't go on like this.

Not now, not before and not later. Never.

I'm again downloading the drivers to check the g400icd. Let's see now...

Anyway my Mits 900u is coming inn tonight too, so...

Steve, I know you don't have a 30% speed decrease, but have you tested .13 vs .21 drivers on your rig? Would be interesting to see how they behaved. And I'm not after something like "wow system shock 2 runs with ICQ in the background"...
            get my drift?

            Regardily,

              People,

Tell me why do you think that there was an error? If there was wrong ICD there, don't you think that Matrox have had enough time to correct it already?
The ICD Ant has was a BETA, so who knows how many problems it might have with titles Ant never tested it with. Ironing down those bugs was done by the expense of speed.

Do I even believe that myself.. huh..
..well.. no reason to fool yourselves anyway..

An odd bit of info for you, Tish. When I was interning at [rather-large-software company that we all love to hate], I had an acquaintance or two who were working on [a very popular 3D programming interface], who told me a very disturbing bit of info. According to what he knew, Matrox had, up until fairly late in the summer, just TWO people working on OpenGL drivers. I couldn't believe it, but now that I own a G400, I wish I had paid more head to his statement... sniff.. sniff...

p.s. Anyone have any info on getting Dual-head workin' in Windows 2000? I can live without hardware acceleration in 2000, but I want my SECOND MONITOR!!!!!!

I had read several months ago, on the Internet most likely (so it *has* to be true), that Matrox hired a couple of outside contracters to help with the ICD.

Maybe the folks at Microsoft, -er, I mean at that software company everyone loves to hate, had heard an evolution of this particular rumor.

Mark, I saw that on their site they'd used a 3DNow! optimized driver. And why can't those whom own the cpu have it is beyond me... maybe Intel has stock in 3Dmark! ROFL

                          Greebe,

That's because 3DMARK99MAX has PIII SSE optimazations but not ATHLON SIMD (3DNOW). AMD wrote a 3DMark.dll with ATHLON optimization, but results with it can no more fairly be compared to "stock". But, hey it does give you great CPUMark scores with an ATHLON
