  • Thank You!!!

I ordered a new mobo for a month ago, hoping this would solve the crashing if I enabled busmastering on my G400 MAX. In the meantime I've been lurking around these forums and found that many had problems with lock-ups due to the AGP card didn't align properly in the AGP-slot if firmly mounted(sp?).

Anyway, I called the store I ordered my new mobo from and asked if they had some information on where the *coughhellcough* my mobo was. They said they didn't know.

Then, after finishing work, I took a look at my Matrox card to see if it actually was misaligned (quite pessimistic after all the things I've previously tried) and I'd be darned! It was!!! My hopes began to rise and I started to bend and tweak the physics of my card until it was placed correctly; aligned and firm.

Believe me, I was surprised when it actually worked! I never thought my Shuttle mobo with a freaking VIA chipset would ever handle busmastering.

Now all my games run smoothly!

So thank you guys for your State-Of-The-Art-Support! I'm very pleased!

hehe...sure. Right after they couldn't give me an answer why it was delayed over a month.

Still got troubles enabling DMA for my diskdrives though. But that's another matter between my SB Live and mobo (Crackling sounds when playing soundfiles during diskaccess).

I'm too happy to give a damn about it for now.

      Cheers!

Do NOT enable DMA for your CD-ROM drives... somebody finally dropped me a clue to turn it off, and now I have CD Audio and CD-RW capacity for the 1st time in months..!!!

Let that be a warning to you, Warlock!!

What do you know..this may be my problem with the bus mastering enabled then.

I will try it as soon as I get home, I have noticed that my G400 sometimes when I have been working inside the computer have tendencies to stop working.

          What drivers are you using?

Right now I have PD5.30, LW! 2.1 and DX 7.0 and I can still not enable bus mastering.

          Greetings

motub, that MAX hasn't made it's way into your 'puter yet? Is it suffering from jet lag?

no, I have to take this system down and install the BX board and the hand-me-down PII I also got from Jord... but I'm afraid to, I always try to do these quick upgrades and go down for a week...

Can't afford that, just yet... soon.
