  • Thanks!

    Hi Folks,

I Just want to say a BIG Thanks to all you folks out there!

I bought my G400 and it showed the "usual"
Lockups... but only by reading this board I fixed them for me...

Ok, I am running at AGP x1 now, but it works..... maybe I could get better If I
do more Hardware work (fixing it to the slot,etc...) but my feeling for Matrox, wich at first with the G400 went really down, are
on level now - as they where before ->
good 2d Card, 3D needs to be improved......
but as always I wanted a Matrox for overall
performance and my G400 is now in line with my previous cards: Mil I, Mill II, G200....

Maybe, just maybe I incorporate my old V2 in
my new System, but I will say - Matrox can be trusted! I am, with on eye dropping a tear,
now so far to say - Matrox is just one Corp
among others, but... as before You have a good working card with the G400, not for gaming but for overall usage (ie: CAD, DTP, etc.)
And if it could be, sometime ahead, that it will be a good gaming card, I am more than pleased with it!
I know that a Matrox (only) forum is not the
proper place for this message, but as most of the people here did helped to solve my
proplem by just reading their msgs, where else should I cry out loud: THANKS!

And I hope to learn more about my card and my
PC IG on this board, I really feel that I am
here with a lot of people who are not flaming bastards, but Users like me who share their
PC Lifes with otheres -> Thanks, and do not
let me down as I will do everything I can to support Newbies as I was on my first C64 in the old days... It is so good to know that
the support one gave another in the old times
is not dead but has advanced through UUCP!
Keep on Posting and be asured that even if one do not answer, your message may have helped more people thank you know!

(I really hope to run my G400 at AGP x2 some
day, but even at 1x -> YEAH!)

Ignore this thread if you want, flame me if you like, but this here is a great Community
and I feel right at home at this place!...

Ok: If you are drunk, and came from a pub
where everyone has complains about the hardware they own you know why I feel so
    happy and warm now!

        Shandra,

You're welcome. (In both senses of the word!)

A word of warning: If you're running a P3 or K6-2/K7 don't put the Voodoo back in, TurboGL and Voodoo don't seem to mesh very well. People have done it, but it's not pretty.

Besides, in all honesty do you play Glide games that much? I got my wife a Voodoo3 for her machine because:

        A. It's idiot-proof, and all games run on it with no tweaking or patching.
        B. I could hop over to her machine and play Glide games.

Reason A has turned out to be a good idea. Reason B has turned out to be useless, as I haven't played a single Glide game since I built her machine.

Although... I _HAVE_ been meaning to go back and play King's Quest 8.

I'm the least you could do, oh yeah

        I would still get screwed

          Hi Folks,

GURM: Thanks, for now I own a Celeron - but
as soon as the price for a PIII is down enough I will upgrade to it... So well,
I will forget about my V2 (at least to switch
it from my old PC to my new).

But... ok, I am not a regular Quakeworld Guy,
but once in a month or so.... And with the
G400... Mh, giving it a thought, that may be
a reason to try out the Win98SE Proxy and
playing it on my second PC... The reason why
I thought about replacing it into the new one
was that I have access to the net only through my primary system....

(And well, Unix is a fine system, but
at home I'am at first a gaming guy and just then I do some DTP or CAD for my university
work -> but with that Matrox has no competition IMHO (with the money I can afford on it in mind))
