  • G400 DVD

    Hi all,

I'm currently using my new G400 to watch DVD movies and the quality is very much below that of my old ATI rage fury 128.
The software I'v received with my G400 is called DIVICORE(?) is it upgradable or should I get myself aother software or even a Realmagic Hollywood+ ?
I'm watching DVD using my monitor- 1024x768x32@85Mhz just like I did before.
Quality is not as bad as with TNT2 but I still get horizonal lines and some artifacts.
The problem occures especially in high contrast scenes, watching Terminator 2 is almost perfect, but when I put on Riverdance, where there is much more color variation and more contrast I get those fuzzy horizonal lines. The picture is also less focused. I should mention that on the ATI it was near perfect.
Since I'v read that DVD quality on the G400 is very good, I guess something is a little wrong with my software.
I'v already tried to play with all the settings (bob/weave etc).

BTW, what about DVD for NT, is it available in software yet ?

DVD playback is great with this software, but remember that it is still a software DVD and not a hardware DVD as in the ATI.. Don't take this wrong but your system is not the fastest out there, so a lot of things may then avoid playback... a DVD decoder might be good for you if you do not plan on upgrading or closing down all running task in your system....

As for NT, very few player are available if any... The one shipped with the card sure does not work in this OS... better wait for win 2000 for your DVD playback
