  • Is it REALLY a G200?

I found a "Matrox Millenium G200" being auctioned off, and snatched one up at a great price ($45), mainly because I wanted to add a Rainbow Runner for its wonderous TV cababilities. The card I received is certainly a Matrox G200, but is smaller and shaped differently than the pictures I've seen on the inet. Before I go out and buy a Rainbow Runner, I'd like to make sure I've got the proper socket and card for one to plug into. Any pictures of the combo, or description of the socket I need would be appreciated.

You should have the product number of the card written on a white sticker.
    Is it NLX?

The G200 has two multi-pin connectors at the very top of the front side of the board for the Rainbow Runner: one black and female to the left, the other white and male to the right.

Right next to the male connector on my board is the white label Jazz mentioned. Below it is the bracket for the RAM upgrade.

              I've got:

              G2/MECOA8B/20D

As for the slots: two female recepticles at the top of the card, a third running vertically across the card...

Thanks for all of your help.

                Hi,

Your card is indeed a Millennium G200. I believe the ECO means that your card is not upgradable. No memory and no possible upgrades such as Rainbow Runner G and Hardware dvd decoder.

You have the econo version of the G200... 8 megs, AGP, bought in bulk, pack of 20 cards... (not retail in a box), this card is probably not upgradable... do you have the 2 pairs of pins on the side of the card and the white braquet to add memory? I am afraid that you might not even be able to use the Rainbow Runner G on this card...

Saddening, but I can live with it, the card has proven to do everything I need it to do (when paired with a voodoo 3 I will take this in stride...thanks for all of your help..it is very much appreciated.

I'm running two computers, so the Voodoo 3 gets interchanged amongst the pooters depending on where the gaming is at (which depends on where the cd burning/downloading/typing). I bought the g200 as a utility replacement for my RIVA for 2d purposes...the RR being a draw...aww shucks.

nah, at worst you can yourself a G400 MAX with a RR-G (this is what I am using) and start playing those games in 32 bit color
