  • Marvel 200 +DVD

I have a Marvel 200 card and am thinking of getting the Matrox DVD module to view DVD's. Can anyone tell me if this is a seperate hardware mpeg2 decoder or is it just a Dolby sound decoder? (The matrox site is confusing on this issue to a newbe!)

Also is this the best option or should I get a seperate mpeg2 hardware decoder such as the Creative Encore? And can anyone suggest a good DVD viewer that can work around regional coding? And finally can anyone suggest a good DVD/CD transport that integrates well with the Marvel DVD combo??

Thanks for any advice or help.

DVD is a small chip that hooks on teh card, it will give you hardware mp2/mpg decoding with dolby sound throught the BOB SPDIF connector. I personally would still recommend that you get the Creative labs DXR3 decoder...

You might want to check this thread before you jump off the cliff. Matrox has a really elegant solution to those of us with Marvels, or RR cards who want to do it all, but so far it's just a concept--the thing ain't workin' too good!
