Interesting you should have that problem. My first max came with a AAVID fan that needed a nudge to get it spinning. Took Matrox ages to get me a replacement and when it came, the fan and heatsink were in pieces and the fan was unlabelled.
Primary System: Athlon 850, 128MB PC133 Ram, GeForce GTS 32DDR, Abit KA7 MoBo, AWE64 Gold, 2940AU Scsi with 32x Reader and 4x4x16 Writer, Jaz and Zip, Card Cooler.
The card was brought here from Canada by a guy who bought some 20 pieces and sold them all in 40 hours (for $240 a piece). The downside is that I only got a 7 days (money-back) guartantee. In Romania the Max is some $280 excluding taxes, that means another 22% VAT. At $340 the the card’s too much for even me Plus you have to wait 2 weeks to get them. If you're unlucky enough to have a RMA case, you wait another month for the replacement. And so on...
The funny thing is that Matrox is one of the few important companies in the PC business that do not have an authorized dealer or representative in Romania.
So I guess I'll put a 486 or even Socket7 fan atop of the puny heatsink of the Max.
Asus A7V, Duron 600@900, 192MB PC133@100, G200, Guillemot MUSE, etc.
Don't make a problem out of this, unless Matrox told you that you have a problem. Register your card online and ask tech support for a replacement fan. I received one within three days (shipped from Canada to the Netherlands).
