  • g400mAX AND k7 600/fic

Picked up the K7 600 and FIC mobo friday...had a crapload of trouble getting it to run...have it up now, but am still having probs...
Running 256 Megs of HSDRAM PC133 and an Adaptec 2940U2w...
On Unreal Tourn. it will just error off while running, giving a page fault...also, lots of other probs setting it up...I installed the AGP miniport and the patches from the CD...
Anyone with this basic setup and some help???Please!!!
I know the chip is fast and runs the Max very nicely...but need to find out if I am doing something wrong or if its the hardware...

Hard to say with the level of information here. You do know that you need DirectX 7 for UT, don't you?

And the other problems? What are they like?

Make sure your case has a good (300 W) power supply.

I am at work, on another guys comp...so I can't put in everything I want...but...yes, I am running D7...and installed all the patches and AGP Miniport ...talked to amd tech supp this am, and the guy thinks that my mobo might be bad...also, i fouind out that seems like a couple of times, if there was no power applied to system, I would loose my CMOS Bios settings...that's a big indicator right there....and, figuring that the mobo is no more that up to a month or two old....it isn't a bad battery. I put a different CMOS battery in and will see when I get home, if it lost settings again...The AMD tech said that the cmos would definetly screw up like the probs I am encountering...also, he said, that with my hardware (see below) I should have no probs...
        Thanks for your input!!!
