  • G400DH@ 165/198, too slow!?!?!

All benchmarks are in 1024x768x32 Z16:
    Celeron300A@504
    G400DH 125/150

    Q3a demo1 25fps
    q2 demo1 65fps
    q2 demo2 63fps
    3D Mark 4050points
    Expendable 42fps

    Celeron 300A@504
    G400DH 165/198 +30%/+19%
    memory won't do more :-(

    q3a demo1 26fps +13%
    q2 demo1 71fps +10%
    q2 demo2 69fps +10%
    3D Mark 4350points +7%
    Expendable 45fps +7%

Overclocking the G400 with 30% core and 19% memory I hoped for some better results.....

these seems to look ok... I am already with a Max and if I remember I am also around these values... but it has been a while since i checked... so I could be wrong

Check for the memory timings. I presume you are using mgatweak, because you altered the multipliers. Use those in the readme doc, if you apply memory optimizations, the default settings are rather conservative.

And remember that the best G400 overclocking is when you donĀ“t need to change the dividers. At 1024x768x32 memory bandwidth becomes more a bottleneck in the effective fill-rate than the core speed.

        I get 3800 in 3DMARK 99 with my G400 MAX on a PIII 450 Mhz (not o/c).
resolution 800*600, 16 bit, double buffer.

I've read tests where they were getting around 5700 with the same configuration.

        Any comments plz.

Double: Is that 3dmark or 3dmark max? There was a earlier version and the results are not comparable.

          Do you have busmastering enabled?

3800 is what I get with my celery 450, and since 3dmark has SSE support you number should be higher (but I think 5700 is exagerated for a PIII 450). Check other treads, there are plenty of 3dmark benchmarks.

Nitromind, your celeron may be maxing out, look for celeron users with higher scores

5700 is pretty close to what I get with my G400Max (unoverclocked) on my P3-450 (overclocked to 558), Nuno. Actually, my current score is 5684 3DMarks using 800x600x16bit color, triple buffering, 16 bit z, vsync enabled. I read somewhere that if triple buffering is enabled then vsync shouldn't and/or vice-versa, so I'm going to repeat the tests tonight with both those situations to see what my results are. If the rumors are right, I should gain some.
