  • Matrox DVD upgrade for G200

I was just wondering, is there a newer version of MatroxDVD 1.1 ?

Matrox makes the best products, and the worst drivers (I'm sorry but that's the truth)! How come PD5.xx doesn't support the DVD upgrade ? I'm forced to use PD4.33 because of this!

And of all the DVD players MatroxDVD is the WORST! It is VERY limited and works like ****!#@! It would be nice to get an update to this program!!!

Matrox did not write the G200s DVD software. That little gem was the work of Zoran. It is Zoran who has not updated their software, although Matrox has requested they do so.

Not that it helps your situation (the DVD add-on itself is also made by Zoran, and needs their software), but Zoran is not the author of Matrox's G400 DVD player...that one is based on Cinemaster's SoftDVD...

See http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/Forum5/HTML/002499.html for the never ending story.
Matrox have not even alluded to being able to fix this at all......

Cods : have seen it (if you notice I even posted a reply prior to this thread)

This is what happens when major companies release new products, they forget about the old ones!

It has really bugged me, because the harware is damn good!

It seems like Matrox ONLY cares about the G400..... Mayby it's that time of year for an upgrade ?

I've heard the G400 DVD TV OUT is not as good as the G200 Hardware Module. All indications from MURC forum show this as well.
So much for staying with Matrox....
Driver updates & lack of compatibility. is definitely a sign of customer disloyalty.
My equipment is less than 12 months old!

            Cods,

IMHO, you have heard WRONG. I know that some people here will completely disagree with you. The G400's TV out is the best in the business, and the DVD quality is SUPERB!

I guess Matrox continuing to release drivers for cards that are more than a year old, and on a timely basis is poor driver support. Have you checked Diamond's website lately???? http://www.diamondmm.com/products/dr...viperv550.html That's right, the last video driver update for their TNT card was April. We just had new drivers arrive at our door step for the G200 a couple weeks ago, and I expect that with every release of G400 drivers, we will see G200 drivers as well most of the time. I know that it sucks that Zoran is not cooperating in getting an update for the G200 DVD module that works with current drivers, but you do have an option, you can still use previous drivers, if you have to have the module.

I also doubt that zoran will do anything for them since they were dropped for the G400.

                DAMN!

Matrox choose the worst partners! It's the same story with the M3d.

The choise to use the module or not, is the same as saying "do you want watch DVD's or not?"

Yes, i want to watch DVD's, dammit!! I cannot afford to buy expencive equipment, if I could i would buy an Athlon and just run software DVD decoding! (ummm, Athlon ).

Oh and btw the first PD4.33 was released i April too so Matrox isn't any better than Diamond (which I find frightning 'caus diamond really stinks at makeing drivers!!!)

Guess i'll have too live with it then....

That is for those who cannot make their DVD addon work AT ALL!

Mine work (almost) perfect with the PD4.33, it just bugs me to heck that anything newer doesn't work! (well mayby the PD4.51, but that is besides the point)

Mine works despite the fact that I have an AMD K6-2, a MB with a VIA chipset and a 3COM NIC! (Yeah that's right! I have beaten the odds! )

My only fear is that I newer be able to use a newer driver! or a better working DVD player.

Does anybody know if Zoran is still in buissness? Their web/ftp-site haven't changes since '97....

Don't exist anymore. They were bought out by MGI, makers of Videowave.

So what youre saying is that the patch should now come from MGI ?

Alas it seems to me that there is no hope for us poor bastards who bought the DVD upgrade....

Why, oh why does this always happen to me ?
DAMMIT! Why doesn't Matrox take charge and do something about it!?!

                        Maby it's because they're cowards....
