  • Wrong info in "system.ini" file ??

    Why is it that I have this in my System.ini file insted of something with G400:

    [boot]
    system.drv=system.drv
    drivers=mmsystem.dll power.drv
    shell=Explorer.exe
    user.exe=user.exe
    gdi.exe=gdi.exe
    sound.drv=mmsound.drv
    dibeng.drv=dibeng.dll
    comm.drv=comm.drv
    mouse.drv=mouse.drv
    keyboard.drv=keyboard.drv
    oemfonts.fon=vga850.fon
    *DisplayFallback=0
    fixedfon.fon=vgafix.fon
    fonts.fon=vgasys.fon
    386Grabber=vgafull.3gr
    display.drv=pnpdrvr.drv

    [keyboard]
    keyboard.dll=
    oemansi.bin=xlat850.bin
    subtype=
    type=4

    [boot.description]
    system.drv=Standard PC
    keyboard.typ=Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural Keyboard
    mouse.drv=Standard mouse
    aspect=100,96,96
    display.drv=Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA)

    The two things which is not clear to me is the last lines in [boot] and [boot.description]. Shoulden't it be something with G400 ?? How do I change it ??I suffer from lockups all the time.

    The system.ini is only used by 16-bit (!!!)Windows applications. 32 bit applications use the windows registry. As stated on the download page, the G400 drivers do not support 16 bit, therefore it is not listed in your system.ini.

    And I dear to bet that the number of 16-bit Windows applications you use is... zero.

    The constant lockups at boot time have nothing to do with the G400 not listed in the system.ini file.

    Some people might have better suggestions if you post data about your IRQ settings, motherbord, etc. If there are problems with your G400, it might be that:

    1) Your G400 is set at a IRQ lower than 10. It should be set above 10.
    2) Your G400's IRQ is shared with another device.
    3) Your AGP aperture setting in BIOS is set at 64 MB. Try 128 MB or 256 MB setting. This setting has NOTHING to do with the memory you have, so don't be afraid that you will run out of memory.
    4) Busmastering is enabled and gives problems with your motherbord/cpu/g400. Try disabling this.

    That are the problems I am aware of that might help. Hope it helps
