If the application you´re running uses textures of a size that won´t fit within the amount of local mem. on your graphics card, the textures are stored in your system RAM. This swapping runs through the AGP bus, and the aperture size determines how much of your system RAM that´s "visible" to your graphics cards AGP subsystem.
Standard aperture size is 64 mb, for current apps. or games you can leave it at that.
