You aren't alone, Vikingman... I also offered help (for whatever I can do), and didn't hear back either...

Guess Ant is so busy, he doesn't have time to delegate any work...?

KvH... your profile says you're in TEXAS..... since when is it 4 am in Texas, when it's 8:30 pm in New York... or is it really 1am here and I'm in the Twilight Zone...?

Hi, Holly. Yes, I'm in Texas. I was just teasing Ant a bit. Look at the front page.

Went back and edited my original. You might be able to tell I was too lazy to actually go back and look up the exact words the first time

Holly, did you know linguists believe the New York accent is vestigial of Dutch (so you're halfway there). As you know, they were the first European settlers in New Netherlands--I mean New York.

Thank heavens you're here, paulcs ... every time I even contemplate attempting to speak Dutch I panic...

Nice to think I might actually have an advantage (even if I didn't).

You have done humankind a great service.

Holly, the guy from the Netherlands that I work with had his parents here and he introduced me.. their names are Gerda and Geis (HCHHairda and HCHHeis).. something tells me you will be speaking very slowly and have a sore throat for about a month

Yeah, KvH, that sounds like about the situation I can expect... although the hopeful sign for today is that I've apparently heard enough Dutch to say "of course that's how you'd spell the pronunciation of Gerda and Geis..!" I wouldn't have known how to write it out, and I think I can't quite say those names correctly yet, but I certainly am totally unsurprised. That's a hopeful sign, btw, because I took many years of French in school. No, I don't remember any of it-- but I do remeber the process whereby the language began to be predictable to me....

You might enjoy reading this humor piece if you haven't..

                        and part 2

                        Meanwhilst, I'll be studying hard...

                        Thanks for the support!!
