  • Via chipset and 5.30 revisited

I've noticed people getting the 5.30 drivers working on via chipsets have one of two things in common,FIC mobo's and k6-3 cpu's.
    So,I guess my question is:
Is it FIC or is k6-3.
Has anyone with a k6-2 chip gotten it to work,I mean fully enabled, and if so what mobo?

According to Matrox it's the fault of mainboards-makers. Could be, but it still shouldn't be a reason for Matrox to publish drivers which aren't even tested on MVP3 boards; the very obvious problems would have popped up when they start a 3D application.

It has nothing to do with AMD, K6-2 or K6-III anyway.

I have an EPoX EP-MVP3G-M mainboard, based on the Via MVP3 chipset, and an AMD K6-2/400 and I have no problems with the 5.30 drivers.

The problem is that the 5.30 drivers and the G200 don't work with D3D or oGL on a MVP mobo.
        I have an Epox MVP3G-M with K6-3/450 and 5.30 doesn't work, so I use 5.25
I think the G400 works with 5.30 and MVP however

Sorry, but 5.30 works fine on my G200 and VA503+. D3D and OpenGL work fine.

I've found 5.30 to be the most stable yet with my G400 32 DH and my PCCHips M577, K6-2-450 combo, especially with the VIA 4.14 4-in-1 drivers.

It appears that the 5.30 drivers work well with g400 and via chipset, however not so well with g200,however once again we see g200+ 5.30 and fic mobo working.
I'm curious to figure this out.
Is it something different on fic's mobo and if so what?
              system:AMD k6-2 350mhz,efa mobo,64 megs dram,g200.
              System works fine with 5.25,but 5.30 doesn't work in 3d games,etc.
Matrox claims it's the mobo's fault, which it may very well be,but as we can see,it seems to be working okay with g400 on epox board, but on the same board with g200,doesn't, therefore is it 5.30 and g200,
mobo's or all of the above?
I hope by gathering as much info as possible,we can help matrox out and keep those good drivers coming!

Epox MVP3G-M rev .04, K6-3 450, Mill G200 SD, most recent BIOSes all the way around, etc, etc. The first stability problem I have ever come across related to my mobo. I did e-mail Matrox tech support with all the pertinent info immediately after the driver release, I'm sure quite a few others did as well. I'm sure they know what the problem is, it is just a matter of how much time they devote to trying to find a solution. In the meantime, I am perfectly content with 5.25, it is much better performance and stability than the 4.51 drivers were (or even 5.13 for that matter). From what I have gathered of those not able to use the TurboGL 5.30 is not much different from 5.25. If they haven't corrected the problem in the next release, I may start to get upset, but who knows... wouldn't do me any good anyway

So, for those who have been able to use 5.25 and 5.30, and aren't able to use TurboGL, is there any difference in performance? I've seen some hints at a performance hit in 5.30.

                    G200 & K6-2 & FIC 503+ : D3D works fine, but no go with OGL ... go figure.
