I unfortunately tend to agree with the others... You should have known that you cannot buy a card thinking that beta drivers for an OS that will only be release in more than 4 months will work flawlesly... Are you a developper who needs this... do you really need to work with this OS? And for your voodoo, I wouldn't cry about that, common, you still have a descent Opengl that is faster than a tnt2 ultra (on my system at least and with my settings)... you are crying because of just an extra feature they decided to had forfaster performance on some system... The card is stil fully functionnal and getting good results. So you can cry and we will listen, but cry about something legit, not some stupidities... sorry but this is how I truly feel. Return your card and get one with full beta drivers for win2k and that allows you to use your slower (or lower visual quality) voodoo2... I am also using voodooo's in SLI and do you see me cry?
And the fact that my tech support advice to Abit/SB Live users is always WRONG, and then Kruzin chimes in with advice that doesn't *seem* to adhere to anything I'm familiar with AND HE'S ALWAYS RIGHT ... now that is really pissing me off.
It's always something.
Get drunk. It helps. Microsoft threw everyone a curve ball requiring DirectX 7 compatibility with RC2. I suspect we'll see this with the Windows 98 drivers before we see anything for Windows 2000. Don't hold your breath, although with Matrox lately, you never know. Maybe they'll surprize us.
If you can get by the BSOD, use the Voodoo2's in W2K for 3D stuff (prepare for some driver surgery), and use the 5.25 drivers in Windows 98. The performance difference isn't that extreme. If your playing online, just use the V2's in Windows 98 as well. Remember, the miniGL we got with PD 5.30 is an early implementation. Maybe we'll see a fix soon.
