Lack of knowledge isn't stupidy. Believing it is, is ignorance.
What it comes to
irate messages in poor English
I have to say that when you are browsing the Internet, you should keep in mind that there actually are people whose native language isn't english using it as well. If one can't tolarate mediocre skills in english, it must be a pain to surf in public bulleting boards.
Madman,
G400 boards support 4X, but only with 2X transfers. That's been known for a some time already.
Buuri, I have mentioned people's poor English on this message board twice that I can remember. Both of these people were AMERICANS (look at madmans profile). Living day to day with people who make themselves and every point they make look foolish by misuse of their native language, I have developed a sore spot, I admit. I wouldn't care if someone spoke in babelfished Chinese if it was the only way they could communicate with us, as long as they were decent. I have a friend from the Netherlands who wrote an e-mail in perfect English, and he's not a genius. It is simply pathetic that people (like yourself) whose first language is not English can present their arguments in a better fashion than bozos like madman. They have no excuse whatsoever other than lazy ignorance.
Man that was such a childish thing to do. What other way was there for me to reply to Haig? I only posted a new topic like the people here told me in order to get Haig to look at my answers to his questions.
Look Madman, Haig has looked at your questions, we all have looked at your questions, yet all we get back from you is that you don't believe a thing we say.
Well, if you are so stubborn to go on like that, and won't try any of the things real Matrox support offers you, because you don't think that's the problem anyway and you won't try and of the things we at the alternative Matrox support offer you, because you don't think that's the problem anyway... aren't we through all that then??
You can go on being stubborn, you can go on being obnoxious, but it's all because YOU won't even try suggestions given !!
We can be extremely helpfull to people, but not to your kind: "Since the system worked perfectly before I plugged in the G400, why do I have to unplug my SB Live! then??" ... because we're trying to help you find what causes the lockups.
Most not so ignorant people do what we ask. They don't question what we ask, just do what we ask. And for all of those not so ignorant people we have found a solution.
Just for the ignorant... well, some people are ignorant, others are just plain stupid.
You really want my opinion to which category that you belong??
Attacking Haig, or the MURC as a family through these forums isn't getting you closer to a solution to your problem, so please plug in a nVidia card and go start ranting at their forums that you have problems...
Oh, and it is:
Jorden ... Try calling us by our names next time Medmen !!!
You say in a post on the first page of this thread:
If you had actually kept up with my posts about my problems, you would've already known that I tried to reintall windows 98 2nd edtion (being specific just for you man) with ONLY the G400 and it was still giving me problems. I didn't even go through the whole installation in fact. I got a windows protection error(Emphasis Mine). There goes Matrox again trying to blame it on the other hardware manufacturers.
Right?? You said that??
So, if Win98SE gives you a Protection Fault, it's Matrox's fault that Microsoft Windows98SE says so about another piece of hardware???
That's just plain BULLSHIT... Try installing windows3.11 then and look if it does it in that one as well, or Win95, or Win98FE ... Saying that because Win98SE gives you a protection fault, Matrox is at fault, is so ignorant and stupid... I can't even find words for it...
And YOU call yourself a Technician?? God help those whose PCs you've laid your hands on...
Jorden.

It's easy for all of us happy poeple with happy working G400s to think rationally but well, I know how irritating it is when things go wrong...I'm not condoning the things Madman has said but maybe we're being a bit harsh ?
No wait, I just saw the other thread (the one he started) and he really is a tosser, but i've got better things to do right now than write the four or more pages it would take to explain fully why.
If he carries on filling our good forum with more of his er, special brand of pleasant chit-chat, I might just feel the need to
I know I was in a rather arrogant and mean-spirited mood when I posted that quote from the AGN review... but I promise that I really intended no "worse" than to poke superior, intellectual fun at a very silly statement that made Jeremy sound like an arrested development case living in his mom's basement... certainly not this bitter and unpleasant dispute...
For those of you who have not enjoyed this hot little interlude (and some MURC-ers don't, you know... Rags ...), my apologies.
Did have a couple of questions about all this, though... really, not trying to start another fight (though it seems likely):

What was up with that mail Madman posted?? The first quoted answer from Daniel (to which this was presumably the response) ends with the (2nd gen?) quote "on 10/12/99 you wrote: the decoder card is connected by etc, etc...." well, since Mad had asked, that must have been an answer from Daniel, but then how is the quote attributed to Mad (or, "you"), in a mail from Daniel? When all previous mail is to be quoted in replies? Do I just use NS too much, and don't know enough about other mail proggies, or.... is there something else going on?
Is it just me that seems to be OK with not being the center of the video card universe? Come on, if 3dfx and Nvidia and Diamond are all making MILLIONS of dollars, year after year... I'm supposed to believe that that's all because of US, buying vidcards at $200 a pop... what, every 25 seconds? Not OEM deals, not technical licensing, not alternative uses that we'll never see... no it's OUR world, OEMs just live in it... we're not just reaping the benefits of technology trickle-down.. we're too important... after all, we have to be ready for Q3... yeah, riiiiight....
Could some friendly soul just please explain to me why people keep saying "sheesh" to me when I say that Nvidia (or whosever) cards are not "better" than the Matrox card I have? I thought I gave a lot of concrete reasons for my opinion... but everyone who disagrees never seems to give me a concrete reason in return... they just say "sheesh". What am I doing wrong???
Oh and BTW.. re: AnandTech... his May 20th review of the G400 series says:
Matrox's G400 will be shipping with both AGP 2X and 4X compliance out of the box. What this means is that a few months down the line, when Intel's 820 chipset (aka Camino) is released, you can pop your G400 in a i820 board and enjoy increased performance due to the G400's ability to take advantage of AGP 4X transfer rates.
What the hell is up with all this selective reading? I'm not even sure everyone is reading from the same thread anymore. Madman is constantly being told that he is being "stubborn and ... wont try the suggestions given," yet when reading from his earlier posts (in this very thread)he had already corrected the irq problem that the Matrox tech had suggested he do. The following suggestions, setting AGP at 1x and disabling the busmastering still hasn't corrected his problems....
How does this make him stubborn and uncooperative???
All I see in this thread, are people rehashing how madman was not cooperative and rude to those that were trying to help him. As a user who purchased the original Matrox Millenium Card (for $300 if you can believe it!) and who is now using the Millenium G200, I find it disturbing when the company you are trying to get help from doesn't believe you. If a user has already gone through all the steps a tech suggests, shouldn't then the user be issued an RMA#? Granted, Madman hasn't acted in the most civil manner but the frustration in having to constantly defend yourself would put stress on anyone.
One more thing...how can a freshly re-installed system with ONLY the video card cause an IRQ conflict?
Ummm..I have one small point to back up here. As far as the SB Live is concerned, ATI Rage 128 users have had loads of troubles with it too. Not that this will help, but whoever said it was polling the PCI bus and frigging up cards that use busmastering was probably right on.
