  • Here we go...!

Well, I take delivery of my new G400 32MB DH tomorrow along with a Celeron 400 and ABit ZM6 Mobo. My machine is *not* going to know whats hit it...

I've picked up on a couple of threads to do with ABit and the various problems that *may* happen - but they all seem realted to the BX based boards. If anyone is interested, I'll put up my experiences with this ZX board....

    System Spec
    P200 (Not for much longer)
    Riva 128 (Bye bye)
    Chaintech TX Mobo (So long)
    64MB Memory
    SB Live
    Diamond SupraExpress V90 modem

    Gribbles,
    Assuming you are using Win9x.
Just before you take out your mb, boot into safe mode, goto System -> Device Manager and...
    1. Remove all devices for the hardware that you will not be using. eg the riva card
1b. You might as well remove any duplicate devices you find while your in there.
    2. Remove ALL devices under "System devices"
    After installing the new MB...
    3. Be prepaired with your Win9x CD.
    4. Reboot your computer 3 times without doing anything else. This gives Win a chance to detect all your new motherboard devices.

This may keep you from needing to reinstall Windows. Unless you want to reinstall just to cleen up. (not a bad idea from time to time)

    Good Luck!

      Well. Absoulutely *no* problems.

Running like a dream at the mo' with no overclocking etc.

Didn't even have to fiddle with IRQs etc. And no, I didn't do a full reinstall, just swapped Mobo, processor & graphics card - win95 P&P actually worked (faint!)

Gotta go and install some games....
