I just upgraded to a 600 MHz PIII, and I ran some benchmarks.
Quake3
32-bit, Normal settings, 800x600
54.8, 55.1, 55.1
16-bit, Normal settings, 800x600
61.2, 61.4, 61.4
16-bit, Normal settings, 1024x768
41.0, 41.0, 41.0
Quake2 (Sound Off)
16-bit, 800x600
94.4, 94.4, 94.5 (Wow!)
16-bit, 1024x768
64.7, 64.7, 64.7 (Very close to the 500 MHz marks)
3DMark99 Max
5580 3D Marks
8867 CPU 3D Marks
There's no doubt about it. The Vanilla likes life at 600 MHz. I can't wait to see some Coppermine numbers. On the other hand, my Internet experience has not really been enhanced, although Intel stated it would on the box.
