    G400 + Abit Bh6 + Powerdsk 5.xx

    Well i have an abit bh6 with pIII-500, matrox G400 and 196 Mb ram.
    The problem starts with the installation of the G400. The system is unstable and the
    information button in properties display is not possible to see. Strange colors have been seen to pop and the hole system stops!!!!
    any hit????

    oh do you have a sb live in that comp???

    i have a abit bh6 and p2 350 at 450 and it works fine.

    have you tryed pulling all other cards out of the system and booting up only with the g400?

    ok ive gone and done it, again. its that time of year again. system upgrade time. my new system arives on nov 10 consisting of amd k7 500 (soon to be 650 at least)a ms6167 mobo, addtonics case with sp power(250), global win fkk sink,2x128 pc100 sdram, 5xdvd region free, xitel p storm sound card, 3com 10/100 pci nic, 3com v90 external modem, 10gig maxtor 7200 rpm harddrive,matrox dual head g400 vanila, 19in ctx monitor, ch throttle, ch force fx joystick, thrustmaster e rudder, thmaster supper sport wheel, usb logitech mouseman wheel, acs400 speakers, yamaha rear speakers, 3 80mm case fans (one with a custom build duck (as per intel spec(have yet to build that but i have the parts)).

    second and third systems as well p2350 at 450 and k6-2 200 (utility system, burner)
    msi 6167 mobo k7 500 wk41 now at 650. 256 meg ram ,addtronics case w 250watt sp power supply, matrox g400, maxtor diammax 2500+ 10gig hd,10x aopen slot dvd, 3com 10/100 nic, sb live xgamer sound card, efecent networks dsl modem, dlink 701i dsl router/firewall, lots of controlers (joystick throttle rudder raceing wheel), 19in ctx monitor, logitech mouseman wheel usb, and klipsch promedia v2-400 speakers. win98 oem and win2k pro dual boot.

      please list your irq assignment and exactly which 5.xx your using, also, what bios for your mobo and video

          Tonight I bought g400 DH 32 MB OEM, installed PD5.30 and WAIT for some LOCK-UP`s. BUT NOTHING!!!!!. WOW

          My system:

          ABIT BH6 rev1.0 HN BIOS
          Agp aperture 64MB, AGP divider 2/3,no video bios shadowing at all.
          128 MB SDRAm SPECTEK CAs3
          P2 400 always at 448Mhz(112x4)
          G400 DH32MB OEM BIOS 1.5-22 RAM 6ns
          voodoo2 SLI
          SB LIVE VALUE
          modem ROCKWELL
          etc....

          SLOT CONFIGURATION:

          AGP........G400DH IRQ11 only G400 use it
          PCI1.........NOTHING!!!!!!!!Don`t USE IT

          I mean,your IRQ3 for g400 is non-standard, Abit has for AGP slot higher numbers e.g. IRQ11.

          e.g.
          -TOMBRAIDER4 DEMO, HA HA HA!!!!!!! NO BUMB MAPPING,textures identical as VOODOO2!!!!
          -LEGACY OF KAIN: SOUL REAVER demo.

          -Matrox G400 tech demo
          -Power render demos

          I run some utils such as g400 tweak v006,
          Matrox tweak Utility.

          G400 runs at AGP2x(PCIlist and G400 tweak006 say it).

          NOW I play with MATROX overcl. utility and my experiences are.

          1. slider at 120% white dots, lines, and other shit attributes apppearing immediately at DESKTOP SCREEN.

          WHY??????? I`ve read ,g400 DH is EASILY OVERCLOCKABLE to G400 MAX values core150Mhz, mem200Mhz, that is 120%.
          These DOTs, etc ARE MEMORY ISSUES,too much MHZ,not HEAT PROBLEM. I`m right??

          I added into case 3 fans(power supply fans),but no luck at 120% o/c.

          2. SAfety setting is for me 118%. no white dots,etc....YES, ALSO GOOD SPEED GAIN!!!!!

          voodoolights screen savers 1.2.4 , crash, maybe opengl issues...

            petros,
            You need to get your G400 off of IRQ3, it's not fast enough. (The IRQ that is.)

            If you have a card in the slot next to the G400, move that card to a different slot.
            That will probably do it.
