  • "Haig " what do you think of this???

    Hi Haig
Whats your opinion of O\C'ed systems and g400's running at above default bus speeds.

I have read that a lot of people seem to think that matrox have always made their cards more robust when it comes to over clocking.

When it is pulled out completely, throw into the wind, sanity will happen to you, you will grow. You will be transformated. That is the meaning of meditation

      Hi Matthew,

reaosn being is that we are conservtive with the final clocks, thus leaving some headroom for O/Cing.

couldn't you have said something more dramatically ???

          Conservative? Really?

Seems to me the 5ns. memory on the Max clocked at the default of 200MHz is exactly at spec, while the 6ns. memory on the vanilla clocked at the default of 168MHz is marginally over spec...

            Ok Maggi, I'll try

We spec the cards with 10%-20% overhead.
Also, when we test our cards, even if 1 pixel is bad, it will fail our standards, therefore we won't sell that card.

Ashley, there are people who have O/C'ed a vanilla G400 with the 6ns memory to the max clock settings with added cooling.

I have also O/C'ed a few Max cards to ~ 220 and other Max cards to ~ 206.

The memory manufacturers also under rate their specs to leave some headroom for any type of instability problems.
