  • Marvel DVD Daughterboard MPEG1 To TV-Out

    Hi,

I have a Marvel G200 AGP and am looking at buying the DVD daughter board but I have some questions:

    1. Is the daughterboard a board that sits on the Marvel Card or is it a separate card that requires a PCI slot?

    2. Does the daughterboard allow for playback of MPEG-1 files to TV-out?

I do a lot of video editing and would like to be able to store some videos as MPEG-1 with the option to write to tape if needed.
I have tried to get an answer from Matrox but they never reply to my e-mail.

    Thanks in advance,
    Bruce

Q 1: It plugs into your Card--No PCI slot or additional IRQ needed.

    Q 2: Yes

You need to be aware that Matrox is still dealing with several known bugs dealing with the DVD player interface, and driver support for this config is lagging--currently 5.xxx drivers are not fully functional with the daughter board.

If you'll give me a specific sequence of read/write/conversions, (and be patient) I'll be glad to test on my system.
