        Some can be excessive and you are right, their is some "puffing" going on. But there are other reasons for sigs too.

        People can read them and inquire about how specific hardware you have performs. Some may have had incompatibility problems and ask how you got similar hardware to co-habitate in the same box together. I have had numerous e-mails directed towards these areas.

        So like other topics, it can generate multiple opinions depending on an individuals perspective as to their usefullness.
