If I do what you say, I get the same result. What you may need to do is right-click on the screen and select the panel control. Click on the PLAY button (right arrow). Sorry if this is a trivial solution, but this is the first solution to your problem. BTW, it does not sound like a driver problem from what you've said so far.

this is a software dvd that is good on my g400. if the previous suggestion does not work then download this. It's a bit large at 5 mb but it's worth having and gives you the option to grab frames as bitmaps which is great for desktops n stuff. Make sure you read the readme txt as it's an evaluation and there is a software crack that makes it never expire. remember if you like this prog you should buy it.

If you plan on using the DVDMax feature of the G400 dual head cards, I think you will have to use the Matrox/Divicore DVD player.

I would suggest holding down the "shift" keys after inserting the DVD to prevent autoplay from trying to kick off anything. After it detected the DVD and mounted it, start the Matrox DVD player from the "Start" menu.

What region is the DVD for? What region have you setup your soft DVD player for? I'm not sure what happens when the two are out of sync; I've never had that happen to me.

Get the Region Selector. I just downloaded the latest release from http://www.dvdutils.com/mirror2.htm (use this site for Europe, it's the fastest).

The stuttering you experience could be a DMA problem. Go to the System control panel and make sure, you have DMA enabled on your DVD drive.

I have tried several other DVD players, including PowerDVD, but the Matrox/Divicore/Cinemaster is the best. I have tried to update the Cinemaster engine, but failed to get it running. I even tried to replace the Matrox player with the equivalent Cinemaster player, but that failed too.

But the Matrox player is excellent, also in performance, so don't upgrade it.

I don't know if you are using any kind of outboard HDD controller, but Promise Technology has acknowleged a bug in one of their drivers that causes hangs when DVD's are played.

                  Check Here: http://www.promise.com/TrackManager/...roduct=Ultra66

They have a replacement driver that fixed my problem with a g200

no matter what dvd player you use, the output will be displayed in the same way that the matrox player is. ie full screen on the tv.

                        Yes...

WinDVD 1.2.99 + TV-out patch also works with G400 DualHead DVDMax mode...

You can see two DVD output screens with this mode... One is Primary output with scaling ability, and the other is Secondary Monitor or TV output.
