  • Help with agp x2 issues HAIG or other brains :]

My card is currently using agpX1 but if possible I would like to use X2.

I have no idea how to do this so if there is anyone out there who can help me with this subject it would be much appreciated.

I do know that through over clocking the system the card will be running at 93 mhz agp bus,but this has not been a problem.I have done many benchmarking test and have left it on for hours at a time and I have not had a single lockup.

Put it this way I just spent 2 hours playin Kingpin @ 1024x768x32 and no probs at all!

    Regards Matt {:O)

    Hi Matt,

set you FSB/AGP divider to 2/3.

You would have to post your system specs if you need further assistance.

        What a beast ...

Do you have an option to set your FSB/AGP divider to 1/2 ???

I thought probably had a Celery that maxed out at 93 MHz FSB using a divider of 1/1, but in your case you'd need an AGP clock of ~70 by using a divider of 1/2.

Do you have that option in your SoftBIOS ?

I had a similar problem because I had not installed my AGP miniport driver.

                Hi Paul,

his 32MB texture rendering scores would improve and I think the multitexturing also

                ...

                Hi VidMadMan,

you won't need a separate driver for AGP on the newer Abit BX motherboards.

                Thanx for reminding though !

                ...

                Hi Spacey,

I don't if his does support it, but I know there are some out there and especially since his supports an FSB of 140MHz, the engineers possibly opened a further option.

                    Hi Maggi

Thanks for your input on this problem, unfortunately I don't have a 1\2 divider I am currently using 2\3.

I have heard that it's possible to force the agp to run at X2 but I cannot find the relevant info on how it is done:]

I know of a motherboard that does have a 1\2 divider but it uses a via chipset and apparently they are not as fast as the bx chipsets.

SOYO SY6VBE (slot 1) 133Mhz I can get one of these boards in the U.K for £55.95, but I don't really need one now as the BE6 is very stable at the speeds that it's running at.

And Maggi I live in East Anglia in the sticks as they call it round hear,..LoL..

Any info gratefully recieved Regards Matt {:O)

                      Matt...
Have you downloaded the Matrox Tweak...the one that has the inf files that you install...
one for 98(or 95) and one for the G400...this will give you a click box to force AGP 2x, plus alot of other options...
Every once in a while, for some unknown reason, my system (a K7600 on the FIC SD-11) will revert to AGP 1X and I ended up just leaving the Forece AGP 2x checked...
BTW, 1x or 2X as far as I have been told, has nothing to do with the AGP divider or FSB speed...
Thats great that you are hitting 140 on your FSB..I never have been able to hit above 567 on my P3 450....
Anyway, try out that file, G400twk...should fix your 2X prob for ya...
                      Kelin

That's not completely true. Sometimes AGP 2x will not be stable/possible at a higher FSB speed, while 1x will be just fine.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

I dont suppose you know where the file is located do you or the file title.

I have downloaded the MGA Tweak proggie for o\cing the G400 core and memory speeds but did not notice any setting in this utility.

perhapse i am looking in the wrong place ?

                            Hold your horses !!!

AGP2x at 93MHz would mean 186MHz AGP transfer rate ...

You'd either experience lockups or even worse you'd possibly fry your card/system/machine !!!

Or dou you have PC200-SDRAM and you Mobo can handle that speed ?

                            I bet not.
