OK, so I posted that I have a gigabyte Ga-5aa mobo and my 16Mb G400 SH just blanks on booting. I have tried everything with this card/mobo combination - agp aperture sizes, reserving IRQs, latest bus drivers, flashing the bios. I have a second PC with a G400 DH and that has always been rock solid and I tried that card on this mobo - same result. My only conclusion is that the mobo and G400 just ain't compatible which is contrary to matrox support line. Alas, I could send the mobo back, but that is too much like hard work, so after 8 hours of configuring, rebooting reloading and cursing the G400 is going back to papa and a Voodoo3 which I know works will be installed. What a pity ! What a waste of time !

he probably thought he was on the soapbox, but couldn't tell for sure as the V3 blurred the words so badly

Excuuuuuse me ! It wasn't a rant - Look, I posted a perfectly valid cry for help 15/11 13:03. But where were you guys then ? [no replies]
Anyway I have a G400 DH on a different machine and I'm the biggest fan - I've recommended it to 4 friends so far. When it came to finding a card for my second PC it seemed natural to go for a g400 as well. Thanks you ALBPM for making the one technical comment I needed.

No problem Rutger, that old GA-5AA board probably won't support the newer 2X-4X AGP cards. The V3 works well with older mother boards like your second system has
