  • TV-Out still having problems...

It's frankly giving me a headache. (I need an animated crying-face-icon)
    here's the problem:
Everything works properly for DVD, except one thing. The G400 TV-Out. I'm getting vertical ripples in my screen no matter what i do, clone, dvdmax, zoom...(somekind of interference?).
I've since changed my tv (bought a new one i mean)and my cable (now s-vhs). Nothing helps. Changed my pc's location -> no luck. Is it my G400? I'm at a loss!

Could be some interference from the power supply, some other card in your system something like that. Even some lamp with a transformer could cause the interference.
    Did you consider that already?

Make sure you're properly grounding you're case.

You may also want to try you're TV on a dedicated A/C circuit (no other appliances on same circuit).

I have the same problem when I use Region Selector v2.55. When you apply the settings you get the effect that 4-5 vertically squashed images apear on your TV. And they update after each other. So image 1 shows frame 1, image2 shows frame 2, etc. Very strange.

Only going to Software Deinterlace works correctly. Changing back to the original settings of the G400 gives the same problem. I have an idea that it is a fault of Region Selector in combination with PAL.

          Tried everything... nothing!
I have however noticed that the lines are a lot less visible when i use a composite cable...

            Hello WereWolf...
Check that you have the proper settings for your TV setup in the Matrox settings. Your problem sounds like you have the wrong PAL/NTSC-setup. If you live in Europe you should have PAL enabled and if you live anywhere else you should select NTSC.
            Good luck...

I had the ripple problem in clone mode also when i used 1024*768 and clone mode.

When i switched to 800*600 the ripples disapered and the picture got generally better.

Remember that you may have ground issues, taking one device and connecting it to another (output from G400 to the VCR.) Electricity will seek the shortest path to ground, so any errant device will try to ground from your machine to the TV's ground, or vice-versa. If it's quickly moving lines that are going across the picture, that's what you're looking at.

If that is the case, then solutions might be:

-Checking grounds in each of the sockets in the wall outlets the devices are plugged into.
-Plugging both devices (Computer + VCR/TV) into the same socket.
-Rigging up ground isolators at the problem spots.
                -a wireless video transmission device

Watch your monitor, too--I had my video-out cable draped over the top of the monitor, which induced all kinds of cute stuff into the signal. If anything's pumping out some EMI, that would be it.

Well thanks guys, but it still isnt't gone...
I haven't tried checking the grounding yet, but it's next on my list.
The res-tip didn't work however, though it sounded good.
I'll get back to let you know if grounding my stuff helps alleviate matters.

                    Well the problem remains.
I've even exchanged my G400 for a new one... that didn't help.
                    Grounding -> no luck.
I keep getting vertical lines (ripples) over my screen (a few to the left, and lots on the right side of my tv screen).
They don't move quickly over the screen, they just stand there... annoying the hell out of me! It's not my tv, because when I'm not using the g400, the image is fine...
What do I have to do to get rid of them!
                    Please someone... help!
