Linux Drivers

Anyone have any ideas on some drivers for the G400 and Linux (preferably Corel Linux or RedHat 6.2.2)? I wanna get my G400 going but i cant find any drivers which means no games.....

You have to get the latest version of XFree86 (that would be version 3.3.5) from http://www.xfree86.org

There may be RPN's available somewhere, but I don't know as I use Debian. But the site above has tarballs if you know how to extract /install them. I'm running a G200, and the server is pretty darn fast, so I'm guessing the G400 will just be sweet. (The matrox series of X-servers is supposed to be one of the fastest made).

Okay, thanks fiddler. I guess i need a little more explination becuse im a very linux newbie. As a matter of fact, i just installed it two days ago. From there I've been bouncing between Corel Linux and Win98 to get support on the net and download some programs because i couldnt log onto the ISP till tonight from Linux. Does XFree86 work with Corel? Will it **** Corel up or just make it better? I know Corel is Debin based...

I'd be very surprised if the new Corel Linux didn't have the latest XFree86. Both the latest versions of the Red Hat and Caldera distributions have it.

When you do your install, check very closely, you might have the G400 listed. (However I haven't seen Corel's so I'm not 100% certain)

Ok, I just checked Corel's linux website and found that the X included with their current distro. does not support the G400, so you'll have to go and get the latest server from the site I put above.

X won't screw Corel up, if installed correctly (that last part I discovered, when I seriously screwed my Debian install by being stupid). It looks like the current shipping version is the same as with the stable version of Debian: 3.3.2, which doesn't even support the G200. But getting a new one is pretty easy.

The instructions are on the xf86 website, and a bit too long to list here, but if you get caught up, post, and I'll see what I can do.

thanks a lot. Im downloading the new files now. Wow, i never thought how cool linux is. And i was checking out KDE 2.0. I think i almost fainted it was so sweet. Ill let you know what happenes
