If I had a vote (and clearly I don't, but if I did), I'd say go with the Rainbow Runner. The G400 has internal connectors designed for RR-G Series compatibility. The "no IRQ necessary" issue is an important one if you want to put in the PCI slot next to your AGP slot or if you're short on resources.
I had some issues last year with software compatibility, but these have been long resolved.
The real downside to this is that the Rainbow Runner has not always been compatible with all G200 driver upgrades, and that can get a little frustrating. The last two were compatible, however, but this hasn't always been the case. You find yourself having to make a choice: Rainbow Runner compatibility or game performance increases.
Matrox is pretty conservative about this stuff as well. They're not going to release driver upgrades with potential RR/Marvel incompatibilities, claim compatibility, and wait for the bug reports to come in. So you might find yourself waiting for videocard performance increases. The transition between PowerDesk 5.25 and 5.30 went rather smoothly, however, so that's a good sign.
