  • G200 PCI good choice for an older Pentium system ?

    Hello Forum !

Will the G200 (PCI version) work reliably in a PCI 2.0 compliant Pentium 90 system running NT 4.0 ?

Is this a good choice ? Or are there better cards for thsi purpose ?

    Thank you.

Are you aiming for 2D or 3D? If it's 2D a G200 PCI will do fine, but for 3D gaming you'd be better off with a used V2 card (or two).

You may have some trouble getting your hands on a G200 PCI and retail price may be pretty expensive.

I forgot to mention that I'm aiming at 2D use. Will this board provide a speed improvement compared to a simple 2 meg PCI board ? Will it use bus-mastering ?

      Thanks.

For 2D work the G200 is an excellent choice. When I upgraded from a Mystique 4MB to a Marvel G200 the improvement (in terms of image quality & 2D speed) was very impressive
