DVDGenie did bad things to DVDMax

Well, of course I had I everything working fine (bundled MatroxDVD)...but I just had to play and dl'd DVDGenie. Well it really fouled my DVDMax output on my TV (S-video straight to TV). All of sudden it looked like I had a macrovision problem. At first there was the flashing green screen and then I got the four screens stacked vertically and all distorted.

I tried the various settings in DVDgenie including the G400 presets but nothing would put right what I had set asunder. The only thing that helped was an uninstall/reinstall of MatroxDVD. Anyone else see this? The PC display ran fine, just the TV out got hosed. Should I update the cinemaster engine before trying DVDgenie again?

What versions of the programs are you using?
(ie- Cinemaster, DVDGenie, etc)

I'm using the latest engine(2.0.36.6145) w/ the latest DVDGenie (3.02) with no problems.

only difference I can see is I have to run a rca cable to my vcr and then a coax to the tv (I know not the best quality but i can't quite justify that kickin 60' anawhatsit tv yet).

I had the same proplem. The only other way to fix it was to go into the DVDmax settings and only have "Preserve source cropping" selected. But I am now having problems with skipping frames on some movies.

Why bother with DVDGenie, just use regedit or something and edit stuff directly. Cinemaster is a mess when you mix files around, I wouldn't be suprised if DVDGenie got some things wrong.

I remember having seen a screen like that after palying with the DVD region selector. If I remember right it was caused by one of the "interlace" settings.

I have not trie with the DVDGenie, the problem may be that it tries to be too clever and uses a mode that is not too good for DVDMax.

Here's all the settings I have for my setup with DVDGenie(that relate to video)

Decode Setting- Full Quality (CPU)
DeInterlacing- Smart Detect
Hardware Optimization- Enabled
3:2 Pulldown- Enabled
Surface Flip Mode- Soft-DeInterlace(Best,400MHz CPU+)
Surface Flip Position- Bottom of the Overlay
Triple Buffering- Enabled

In the DVDMax options page I have Preserve Aspect Ratio set to 4:3 and its deteced by video window size.
I currently dont have any of the advanced settings enabled but I did have to once to play the movie "In Dreams" (I think thats the name it had Annette Benning in it) but I don't remember which ones I just turned them on and off at random til it stopped playing jerkily.
