Well for me really no change, still getting 36 fps at 1280 x 1024 16 bit in UT with all high quality settings turned on, hehe that kicks ass . 3dmark99 800x600 16 bit went from 3222 to 3253. Quake 3 at 1024 x 768 16 bit still only getting 20.9 FPS YUCK!

I never experienced that 800x600 problem with Quake 3 with the 5.30 drivers. Maybe I'm lucky, maybe my system is simply better. ;-)

The only reason I cared about OpenGL was because of Quake 2 and 3. But currently they have simply been replaced by Unreal Tournament. So no more OpenGL problems for me anymore. :-)

                Wow,
Thanks for all the great replys people. I haven't had a chance to try everything yet (I'm at work) but am looking forward to resolution when I get home.

As an aside, I to did not experience the
800 X 600 Q3A problem with the previous drivers. If that's the only problem, I'll be happy. Thanks for the Config file, seems like a damn easy fix.

Can anyone else comment on image quality in Quake 2 with the new drivers??

                Thanks again people...

                much abliged, The Dog.

                  Let's see,

Tirtanium is now stable, 10% faster in lower resolutions if I recall my old scores. There is a difference between 640x480 and 1024x768 now. (33 vs 29, K6-3 450, 32 bit modes, d3d)

3DExerciser now works properly. Up to 69MB textures and still doing 30fps. 70MB and 1 fps.

3DMark99Max, no real change, but that thing never changes (POS). 32MB texture transfers is up 10%.

                  RollCage still works.

Haven't tried anything else yet. Very minor speed increases, few bug fixes, seems to sum this one up.

Those are some seriously funny threads- the one poster getting basted for giving unbelievable results (at least to the others there) with the Athlon 700 / GeForce.

What gives with the UT/K6 scores? We've got two people posted above getting above 30fps at 1024x32bit, one getting above 30 at 1280x16 bit. In the meantime I'm stuck below 30 at 1024x16bit, With a Cel 550, and detail at medium.
I'm starting to think all this 16 megger is good for is 2d.

Hey DarkSyd ! How do you get your numbers ?? Do you run some bot-game or what ? And is that number average fps or lowest or what ?
It would be nice to know... When I run bot-game with 8 bots with my Cel400@500 and G400SH(32) it shows 40-60 average, 100-140 highest and 20+ lowest fps... with 1024x768(16 bit).

I have a feeling a lot of people who are experiencing the "white screen" problem for the first time with the new driver release forgot to run the TurboGL Manager after they installed the new Quake3 1.09 Demo Test. The 5.41 installer installed TurboGL in their game folder this time around and bang, instead of using the ICD, the game became TurboGL capable, and the bug suddenly emerged.

If you have a PII or K6 and you are not experiencing the problem, it is because you don't have TurboGL capabilities. The problem doesn't exist with the regular ICD.

If you have a PIII and you have TurboGL installed, but you didn't experience the problem with PD 5.30, *maybe* you didn't run the TurboGL Manager *after* you installed the new Quake3 1.09 demo version, or you did and it wasn't implemented properly. (Or the video gods just like you better and decided to give you a reprieve.)

It is my understanding that you must install TurboGL each time you install (or remove and reinstall) a supported game. The TurboGL file must end up in the proper place in your Quake3 1.09 folder as well.

So, as far as I understand the situation, the problem is not with the new drivers, it is with the miniGL driver. No miniGl, no problem.

If I'm right, the people who are having the "white screen" problem now are in for a pleasant surprize. When I finally got the game up and running with TurboGL (safety config file in tow), I got a nice big jump in frame rates.

                                UncleJoe-
I only play online (usually Dom or CTF matches w/ 10-15 people). With the framerate display enabled, I average around 32-35 with my V2 (800x16bit, high detail), but barely manage 20 at the same settings with the G400, let alone 1024x or 32 bit.
I guess if those other posts were running around in an empty level, well good for you. That's the same as benchmarking Quake with the sound off. I'm willing to bet my way is more fun
The 5.30 drivers I'm using now haven't given me any problems, so I guess I'll stick with them.
